I've used 250 keys to date. The first 100 were done in groups of 5. The last 150 were done in groups of 25.

Here were the general observations:

- Opening the chest in groups of 5 versus 25 didn't matter. There were 5 groupings that comprised nothing but consumables; there were 5 groupings that were mostly rare items. In the same respect, some 25 groupings were up to 64% golds; other 25 groupings were up to 68% consumables. The ratios for the first 100 versus the last 250 are roughly identical.
- Your chances of finding anything of real value are fairly bad. The majority of skins that drop are super common; if you want cash, you're absolutely better off selling the Zaishen keys for 2.5k to 3k, barring a Crystalline Sword skewing your results.
- The Zaishen Chest can drop imperfect damage weapons. I also have an alliance mate who apparently found a non-inscriptible Pyroclastic from the chest, but of the 72 rares found so far, all of mine were inscriptible.

The to-date totals:

Creme Brulee: 55 (22%)
Flask of Firewater: 82 (32.8%)
Beetle Juice Tonic: 3 (1.2%)
Transmogrifier Tonic: 5 (2%)
Yuletide Tonic: 3 (1.2%)
Non-Elite Tome: 19 (7.6%)
Elite Tome: 7 (2.8%)
Lockpicks: 4 (1.6%)
Rare: 72 (28.8%)
Total: 250

I do not know if any of these drops are grouped together.

There have only been four notable drops:

Amethyst Aegis (Command) Q11
Amethyst Aegis (Motivation) Q12
Gloom Shield (Strength) Q9
Pyroclastic Axe Q10

There were three semi notable drops:

Stormbow Q12, 14-28 DMG
Gothic Sword, Q10
War Hammer, Q12 (Ascalon Maul Skin)

FYI, you have the %s wrong on your smaller drop totals. everything you list at >1% should be multiplied by 100 for the percent.

I used 18 keys in groups of 5-5-8 today:
1st group:
Beetlejuice Tonic, Firewater, Creme, 2 Rares
2nd group:
Beetlejuice Tonic, Firewater, Creme, 2 Rares (deja vu)
3rd group:
Creme x2, Firewater x2, Reg Tomes x3, Rare

Notable rares:
r11 Mursaat Hammer
r10 (spawn) Onyx Scepter

Question: was that nonscribable pyroclastic without damage mod at all or did it have inherent ("tyrian") damage mod?

And, yes, z-chest drops nonmax weapons. It seems that its mostly bows whose min-damage is one point off.

I've gotten weapons that had no inscription slots or damage mods on it. So that's probably what your friend got too.

I think someone said this before: you're screwed if you see a nice weapon drop with a Deathbane suffix on it, it pretty much means no inscription slot. I've had it twice now, of which one on a req9 Broadsword and one on a req9 Storm Bow

YEah in all campaings non inscriables drop. if you faind gold item in nf without any dmg mod it doesnt even have slot for it..

im startign to think anet nerfed the drop rate for good rares to stabilize the prices, such as when the first week lots of eternal blades were dropping. either that or less ppl open the chest.

Come to think of it, my last set from the chest had an Iron Hammer (or something similarly not worth too much) of Deathbane, no inscription slot. They should look into what the deathbane mod is doing to nullify getting an inscription on gold weapons ;p

I'm pretty sure it's been stated before, but for the first few weeks we had every PvPer with thousands of tournament points saved up dumping those into keys. We had several months (at least) worth of chest opens at a normal pace in the space of a week or so. That's why there were so many rare drops immediately after release.

I dont think thats true, Im getting things with Deathbane out of the chest and they still have inscription slots. But I am getting quite irritated that Deathbane seems to be the only vs. one I get from Zaishen drops or GW:EN drops.

As for decent skins I have gotten out now: mursaat hammer, gothic dual axe, amethyst aegis, crenellated, broadsword, celestial shield, glooms (tact and strength), platinum staffs. The good skins tend to be low req, the more standard skins tend to be 13s.
